Living a Separate Life unto God in the Apostolic Prophetic Season

By Lynelle Clark – From Desolation to Abundance

In this Apostolic Prophetic season, the Spirit of the Lord is calling His people to live a life of separation—not isolation, but consecration. A holy dedicated life to God, the Finisher of our faith. It is a divine invitation to align fully with the heart, mind, and will of God, walking in step with His purposes on the earth. This is not merely a lifestyle choice; it is a spiritual mandate for those who desire to be vessels of His glory in these last days. A spiritual mandate that must be activated into practical righteousness in our daily life.

What Does It Mean to Live a “Separate Life unto God”?

To live a separate life unto God means to live distinctly, wholly devoted, and intentionally set apart for His use. It echoes the call of Romans 12:1–2:

“I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind…”

But I have said to you, “You shall inherit their land, and I will give it to you to possess, a land flowing with milk and honey.” I am the LORD your God, who has separated you from the peoples. Leviticus 20:24

“Then the children of Israel who had returned from the captivity ate together with all who had separated themselves from the filth of the nations of the land in order to seek the LORD God of Israel.” Ezra 6:21

Paul, a bondservant of Jesus Christ, called to be an apostle, separated to the gospel of God Romans 1:1

This separation is not about self-righteousness or superiority—it’s about availability. God is looking for those who will step out of the crowd and into the cloud of His presence. In this season, He is raising up a remnant that is willing to walk away from comfort, compromise, and carnality to carry the mantle of His purpose.

Characteristics of a Life Set Apart in This Season

1. Intimacy Over Activity

“He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.”  Psalm 91:1

Many are busy doing things for God, but few are abiding with Him. In this season, intimacy is the foundation. The Lord is looking for lovers before labourers—those who seek His face before they seek His hand.

2. Prophetic Sensitivity

“Surely the Lord God does nothing, unless He reveals His secret to His servants the prophets.” Amos 3:7

Living separately means tuning out the noise of the world to discern the whisper of the Spirit. God is speaking with clarity and urgency. A separated life positions you to hear and declare what He is saying, acting not on impulse, but by revelation.

3. Apostolic Alignment

“God has appointed these in the church: first apostles, second prophets, third teachers…” 1 Corinthians 12:28

This season calls for order and structure—apostolic alignment with God’s blueprint. A separated life submits to Kingdom governance, honours divine authority, and walks in the disciplines necessary for Kingdom advancement.

4. Holiness as a Lifestyle

“But as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct.” 1 Peter 1:15

“For before certain men came from James, he would eat with the Gentiles; but when they came, he withdrew and separated himself, fearing those who were of the circumcision.” Galatians 2:12

Separation includes a return to holiness. Not legalism, but a sincere reverence for God. It’s the daily choice to say no to sin and yes to the Spirit. Holiness is not outdated; it is the hallmark of those who will walk in power.

5. Kingdom Purpose Over Personal Ambition

“But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.” Matthew 6:33

15 But when it pleased God, who separated me from my mother’s womb and called me through His grace, 16 to reveal His Son in me, that I might preach Him among the Gentiles, I did not immediately confer with flesh and blood, 17 nor did I go up to Jerusalem to those who were apostles before me; but I went to Arabia, and returned again to Damascus. Galatians 1:15-17

To live a separated life is to trade our own agenda for God’s. It means embracing Kingdom assignments—even when they are inconvenient, uncomfortable, or costly. In this season, God is deploying those who are willing to say, “Here I am, send me.” (Isaiah 6:8)

Why Now?

We are in a divine kairos moment. The Apostolic Prophetic season is marked by accelerated change, spiritual warfare, and unprecedented opportunity for impact. God is shaking the foundations of systems—both in the Church and in the world—to reveal what is truly of Him.

In times like these, lukewarm living is no longer sufficient. The Spirit is separating the wheat from the chaff, the committed from the casual. A separated life is a surrendered life—one that God can trust to carry His Word, His authority, and His glory.

Final Thoughts

Living a separate life unto God in this season is not about perfection; it’s about pursuit. It’s the daily yielding of our hearts, the quiet yes in the secret place, and the bold obedience in public spaces.

“19 Now, therefore, you are no longer strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God, 20 having been built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ Himself being the chief cornerstone, 21 in whom the whole building, being fitted together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord, 22 in whom you also are being built together for a dwelling place of God in the Spirit.” Ephesians 2:19-22

Now more than ever, God is calling His people to rise—not just in gifting or platform, but in consecration. If you feel the tug of the Holy Spirit drawing you into deeper surrender, don’t resist it. Lean in. You are being set apart for something greater.

“Therefore, come out from among them and be separate, says the Lord. Do not touch what is unclean, and I will receive you.” 2 Corinthians 6:17.

Pursuing purpose, passion, and prophetic alignment—

one life, one assignment at a time.
