The Comfort and Overflow of Zion

Scripture Focus: Isaiah 66:12–14

"For this is what the Lord says: 'I will extend peace to her like a river, and the wealth of nations like a flooding stream; you will nurse and be carried on her arm and dandled on her knees. As a mother comforts her child, so will I comfort you; and you will be comforted over Jerusalem.' When you see this, your heart will rejoice and you will flourish like grass; the hand of the Lord will be made known to his servants, but his fury will be shown to his foes." — Isaiah 66:12–14

Overview

This chapter marks a shift from birthing to nurturing — from sudden delivery to sustained overflow. God speaks of peace like a river, wealth like a stream, and comfort like a mother’s embrace. This is the season of divine tenderness, visible flourishing, and clear distinction between those who serve God and those who oppose Him.

Key Themes

  • Peace like a river — not a trickle, but a steady, life-giving flow
  • Wealth like a flooding stream — abundance that cannot be contained
  • Comfort like a mother — intimate, personal, healing
  • Rejoicing and flourishing — emotional restoration and visible growth
  • Divine distinction — God’s hand revealed to His servants

Marketplace Application

In the marketplace, this passage speaks to:

  • Emotional healing after seasons of pressure
  • Financial provision that flows from alignment
  • Clarity in calling and favour

  • Let peace govern your decisions
  • Expect visible flourishing in your work and relationships
  • Trust that God’s hand will be made known in your assignments

Declaration

"I receive peace like a river and wealth like a stream. I am comforted, carried, and nourished by the hand of God. I rejoice and flourish. I am marked by His favour and distinguished by His presence."

From Vindication to Birthing — The Sound of Sudden Glory

In the previous blog post, we stood with the trembling ones; those who honour God’s Word, endure mockery, and carry the posture of reverence. We saw how God responds to their obedience with vindication, justice, and divine defence.

Now, Isaiah 66 pivots.

From trembling to birthing.
Mockery to miracle.
Exclusion to expansion.

“Before she goes into labor, she gives birth; before the pains come upon her, she delivers a son. Who has ever heard of such things?
Who has ever seen things like this?
Can a country be born in a day, or a nation be brought forth in a moment?
Yet no sooner is Zion in labor than she gives birth to her children.  Do I bring to the moment of birth and not give delivery?” says the Lord.
“Do I close up the womb when I bring to delivery?” says your God. “Rejoice with Jerusalem and be glad for her, all you who love her; rejoice greatly with her,  all you who mourn over her. For you will nurse and be satisfied at her comforting breasts; you will drink deeply and delight in her overflowing abundance.”
Isaiah 66:7-11.

Verse 7 opens with a prophetic shock:

“Before she goes into labour, she gives birth; before the pains come upon her, she delivers a son.”
— Isaiah 66:7

This is not normal.
This is supernatural.

It is the picture of Zion birthing destiny without delay.
It is the sound of God accelerating His promises.

It is the moment when what was mocked becomes what is multiplied.

The Marketplace Implication

It is the moment when:

The trembling ones become the birthing ones

The rejected ones become the resourceful ones

The mocked ones become the multiplied ones

The faithful ones become the fruitful ones

God is saying:

I do not bring to the moment of birth and not give delivery.”

— Isaiah 66:9

This is a rebuke to delay, fear, and spiritual abortion.

God finishes what He starts.

He delivers what He conceives.

He multiplies what He anoints.

Isaiah 66:7–11 is not just poetic — it is prophetic.

It is the sound of sudden glory.

It is the season of supernatural delivery.

Let’s step into it.

The Trembling Ones, the Mocking Crowd & the Sound of Divine Justice

Isaiah 66:5–6 with the Passion of Christ

There are moments in Scripture where Heaven pulls back the veil and reveals what God sees, what God hears, and what God is about to do. Isaiah 66:5–6 is one of those moments. It is a message to a specific kind of believer; the one who trembles at God’s Word.

Not a casual believer.
Not a cultural believer.
Not the religious performer.
But the one whose heart bows when God speaks.

And to these trembling ones, God says:

“Hear the word of the Lord…”
Isaiah 66:5

Because what He is about to say is both sobering and deeply comforting.

Mocked for Reverence — The Pain of Standing for Truth

Isaiah continues:

“Your own people who hate you,
and exclude you because of My name…”

Isaiah 66:5

This is not persecution from strangers.
This is rejection from familiar faces.

It is the sting of:

  • being misunderstood
  • being excluded
  • being mocked
  • being labelled “too spiritual,” “too serious,” or “too obedient”

And then comes the sarcasm:

“Let the Lord be glorified, that we may see your joy!”
Isaiah 66:5

This is not encouragement.
It is ridicule.

It is the same spirit that mocked Jesus.

The Mocking of Jesus — The Ultimate Identification

Every Gospel records the mockery of Christ:

  • Matthew 27: They strip Him, robe Him, crown Him with thorns, kneel in false worship, spit on Him, and strike Him.
  • Mark 15: A whole battalion gathers to ridicule Him.
  • Luke 22–23: He is blindfolded, beaten, taunted, insulted, and mocked by Herod’s soldiers.
  • John 19: He is flogged, robed in purple, crowned with thorns, slapped, and mocked repeatedly.

This was not random cruelty.
It was prophetic fulfilment.

  • Psalm 22:7–8: “All who see me mock me…”
  • Isaiah 53:3: “Despised and rejected by men…”
  • Genesis 3:18: The thorns of the curse placed on His head

Jesus was mocked because He was the true King.
He was ridiculed because He was the true Messiah.
He was rejected because He was the true Word made flesh.

And Isaiah 66 tells us:

Those who tremble at His Word will experience the same pattern.

Ruth — The Trembling One Who Was Vindicated

Ruth was:

  • a foreigner
  • a widow
  • an outsider
  • a woman with no status

She was likely mocked by the reapers.
She was overlooked by society.
She was excluded by culture.

But she trembled at God’s ways.
She aligned with His field.
She stayed close to His presence.

And like Christ, and like the trembling ones in Isaiah 66, she was vindicated.

Boaz covered her.
God honoured her.
Her lineage birthed the Messiah.

The Sound of Justice — Heaven’s Response to Mockery

Isaiah continues:

“Hear that uproar from the city, hear that noise from the temple!
It is the sound of the Lord repaying His enemies…”

Isaiah 66:6

This is not chaos.
This is justice.

This is the sound of:

  • God defending the humble
  • God vindicating the contrite
  • God answering the trembling ones
  • God silencing the mockers
  • God restoring the rejected

The trembling ones may be mocked, but they will never be abandoned.

The trembling ones may be excluded, but they will never be forgotten.

The trembling ones may be ridiculed, but they will be vindicated by God Himself.

Marketplace Application — Being a Voice That Draws People to Christ

In the marketplace, this passage becomes intensely practical.

You may be mocked for:

  • refusing corruption
  • honouring Scripture
  • praying before decisions
  • choosing integrity over convenience
  • refusing to gossip
  • standing for righteousness

You may be excluded for:

  • not joining unethical practices
  • not laughing at crude jokes
  • not compromising your values

But your trembling becomes your testimony.
Your reverence becomes your influence.
Your obedience becomes your voice.

You don’t draw people to Christ by blending in.
You draw them by standing out.

You become:

  • the calm in chaos
  • the truth in confusion
  • the integrity in corruption
  • the light in darkness
  • the voice that carries Heaven’s sound

And Heaven promises:
Your vindication will speak louder than their mockery.

DECLARATION: I Will Stand Even When Mocked!

Speak this aloud:

“Lord, I choose to tremble at Your Word.
I choose obedience even when mocked.
I choose truth even when excluded.
I choose reverence even when misunderstood.
As Christ was mocked, I will not be surprised when I am mocked.
But as Christ was vindicated, I will be vindicated.
Let the sound of Your justice be heard in my life.
Make me a voice that draws people toward Christ.”

A call to Holiness

Holy, Holy, Holy are You,

O LORD God Almighty,

Who was and is and is to come

(Revelation 4:8).

We bow our hearts before You, Father,

For You are not common,

You are not familiar,

You are not casual.

You are unique.

You are set apart, exalted above the heavens,

And Your glory is above all the earth

(Psalm 113:4).

When we consider Your holiness,

We realize that no human strength can stand before You,

No flesh can glory in Your presence

(1 Corinthians 1:29).

Even the heavens are not pure in Your sight

(Job 15:15),

And yet You invite us to draw near.

Lord, like Isaiah, we say that when earthly supports fall—

When kings die,

When systems fail,

You reveal Yourself more clearly.

In the year King Uzziah died,

Isaiah saw You seated on the throne,

High and lifted up,

Unmoved, unchanged, eternal.

Your train filled the temple,

Leaving no space for human glory.

The seraphim cried to one another,

“Holy, holy, holy is the LORD of hosts;

The whole earth is full of His glory.”

At the sound of their voices, the doorposts shook,

And the house was filled with smoke

(Isaiah 6:1–4).

Lord, let that vision be restored to Your Church.

Shake us again with the reality of who You are.

Deliver us from a powerless familiarity with holy things.

Restore the fear of the LORD,

For the fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom

(Proverbs 9:10).

And as Your holiness is revealed,

We confess as Isaiah confessed:

“Woe is me, for I am undone.”

Not because You are cruel,

But because You are pure.

Your light exposes what darkness hides.

Your holiness reveals what pride denies.

We acknowledge, Lord, that even those You call,

Even those You anoint,

Even those You send—

Stand in constant need of Your cleansing grace.

Isaiah was a prophet, yet he cried,

“I am a man of unclean lips.”

Peter was a fisherman, yet he fell at Your knees and said,

“Depart from me, for I am a sinful man.”

So today, Father, we do not justify ourselves.

We humble ourselves under Your mighty hand

(1 Peter 5:6).

Search us, O God, and know our hearts;

Try us and know our thoughts;

See if there is any wicked way in us,

And lead us in the way everlasting

(Psalm 139:23–24).

Touch us with the coal from Your altar.

Let Your cleanse our consciences from dead works

To serve the living God

(Hebrews 9:14).

Create in us clean hearts, O God,

And renew steadfast spirits within us

(Psalm 51:10).

Lord Jesus,

You stepped into Peter’s ordinary boat—

A place of labour, frustration, and fatigue.

You did not ask for perfection.

You asked for access.

And when Peter gave his boat,

You turned it into a pulpit for the kingdom.

Lord, teach us that our vessels—

Though ordinary, limited or not to the standards of men.

Let them become powerful when we surrender all to You.

We place our boats at Your disposal.

Use what we have,

Where we are,

Just as we are.

And when You speak, Lord,

Give us ears to hear and hearts to obey.

Even when Your instruction stretches our logic.

Even when experience tells us the nets will be empty.

Even when obedience requires faith beyond comfort.

For You are the Lord of the deep.

The deep places of provision.

The deep places of transformation.

As deep calls to deep,

As we obey, let the nets break with abundance.

Let testimonies overflow.

Let provision confirm Your Word.

Not so that we exalt ourselves,

But so that we fall again at Your feet in awe.

Lord, let Your holiness rest upon us so tangibly

That people are convicted simply by being near us.

As it was in the early Church,

When great fear came upon all,

And many signs and wonders were done

(Acts 5:11–12).

Let our lives preach louder than our sermons.

Let our purity speak louder than our arguments.

Let Your glory shine through us,

So that men see our good works

And glorify our Father in heaven

(Matthew 5:16).

We ask that Your holiness would reshape homes,

Heal marriages,

Restore children,

Correct injustice,

And dismantle corruption.

Let societies be transformed—not by force,

But by the revelation of Your glory.

For when You arise, Lord,

Your enemies are scattered

(Psalm 68:1).

When Your glory fills the temple,

Dagon must fall

(1 Samuel 5:3).

We declare that we are willing vessels.

We are obedient servants.

We are carriers of holy fire.

Here we are, Lord—send us.

Until the earth is filled with Your glory.

Until every knee bows.

Until every tongue confesses

That Jesus Christ is Lord,

To the glory of God, the Father

(Philippians 2:10–11).

We worship You.

We reverence You.

We yield to You.

In the holy, glorious, and eternal name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

Marketplace wisdom principles: The Principles of Three

The triquetra (derived from a Latin term meaning "three-cornered") is an ancient symbol consisting of three interwoven arcs. In the Christian faith, it represents the Trinity, illustrating the concept of three distinct yet equal persons who are also considered indivisibly united as one.

In the Bible covenants are a very important element of our faith and hope, because God is one of the parties to the covenant. Biblical covenants have three parts:

·         a statement about God’s saving act (what God brings to the agreement);

·         a statement about what God expects from humanity in response.

·         and a sign or symbol as a reminder of the covenant.

The Symbolism of Three in the Bible

The number 3 is often associated with completeness and perfection in the Bible. This symbolism is evident in various biblical stories and parables, such as:

  • The three wise men who brought gifts to the baby Jesus
  • The three days that Jesus spent in the tomb before his resurrection
  • The three temptations of Jesus in the wilderness

These examples demonstrate the significance of the number 3 in biblical literature, representing completeness and perfection in God's plan.

The Trinity

The doctrine of the Trinity stands as a foundational principle in Christian theology, articulating the belief in one God existing as three distinct persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. This theological concept is substantiated by numerous biblical references, including the following:

  • Matthew 28:19 - "Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit"
  • 2 Corinthians 13:14 - "The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ and the love of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all"

The significance of the Trinity in Christian theology cannot be overstated, representing the unity and diversity of God's nature.

Threefold Patterns in the Bible

Threefold patterns are a frequently employed literary device within biblical literature, symbolising notions of completeness and perfection. Notable examples of such patterns in the Bible include:

  • The three denials of Peter
  • The three temptations of Jesus
  • The threefold repetition of "holy" in Isaiah 6:3

These patterns serve to reinforce the significance of the number 3 in biblical interpretation, representing completeness and perfection in God's plan.

The number 3 holds significant symbolism in the Bible, representing completeness and perfection in God's plan. This symbolism is evident in various contexts, including the doctrine of the Trinity and threefold patterns in biblical literature. As Christians, we can draw strength and comfort from the power of three in our interpretation of the Bible and our understanding of God's nature.

Is there symbolism in the Hebrew meanings of the green poplar, almond and chestnut rods that Jacob peeled? Gen 30:37

Other examples

  • The nation had to travel three days away from Egypt to bring sacrifices to God. Ex 5:3
  • Noah had three sons Genisis 6:10
  • The males must appear three times a year in the temple Deut 16:16
  • Genesis 40: The cup bearer and baker’s dream
  • Moses was hidden for three months Ex 2:2
  • Three cities of refuge Deut 19:1
  • Three characters were prominent in 1 Samuel: the prophet Samuel, Saul and the first Kind of Israel, David

Summary and Closing

In summary, the number three is a recurring symbol of completeness and divine order throughout the Bible. From the Trinity to the three days’ journey from Egypt, the three sons of Noah, the triannual temple appearances, and the three central figures in Israel’s early monarchy, this pattern reinforces the idea of wholeness in God’s design. Even in seemingly minor details, such as the three types of sticks Jacob used, the motif of three points to a deeper spiritual significance. Reflecting on these examples, we are reminded of the strength, comfort, and meaning that biblical patterns offer to believers seeking to understand God’s nature and purpose.

A Covenantal Relationship with your Spiritual Father

Ever since I became aware of the deeper things of God in the Bible, I had a longing to be part of the Kingdom. To truly belong and serve within the Kingdom purposes. But it always availed me.

Often times it was because of my own doing, but there was always a silly reason why I was rejected within a group. I call it silly reasons because, looking back at many of my experiences, I was in the company of immature people. Not that I was very mature myself, but what I read in the Bible simply didn’t happen in the body. They had the look of devoted Christians that loved the Word but when you came closer, you realize how fake they were and that the word was watered down to suit their lifestyle. I was disqualified because of the way I talked, raised my children, or whatever reason they could think of and was kept at a distance. There was no nearness of proximity. There were no grace carries to whom I could connect with.

When I became aware of spiritual fathering, I pursued it but again was thwarted because of pressures of life. I was disillusioned, my confidence shattered, and my faith non-excitant.

Once I returned to the folds of the ABC family, I knew that the emphasis would be on me to walk the straight and narrow. To abide in Christ. When we receive a second chance, you tend to appreciate everything more. You realize it is not about the me-company but the us-company. I knew that the demand to follow Christ accurately would be greater. Not because I felt like it would be a law as the world sees it but because God expects it. And because I want to please the Heavenly Father. I want to be part of the Kingdom and His righteousness. Therefore, I must do my part.

I had to change many things, but the Holy Spirit was gracious and helped me through it. Jesus became the hedge breaker that simply propelled me to follow Him.

When you make a turn in the pigsty, you appreciate things more. You appreciate the nearness of proximity more. Within this nearness, there is another dimension birthed. To delight yourself in the Lord. After years of avoiding the throne room, I can come into the place of Holiness. At first it was a hesitant step, but as my relationship with God and my spiritual father healed, the easier it became. Appreciating God in all His facets, even in the hard things. Everything becomes a delight. I will confess, it is still something that I must work at certain days.  It doesn’t come easy to me, but I must make a conscious effort to really press in and stay nearby. I must cooperate with God, the Holy Spirit, and work out my salvation. And how do I do it? By talking to my spiritual father. By staying connected.

It is up to me to speak to her. It will not help to go to a brother in Christ and talk. No, I must go directly to the resource. I call her my resource because God is my Source.

In the story of the prodigal son, I picture the father, looking out his window, sometimes standing at the gate as he waited for his son’s return. He didn’t go out and look for him. He waited and when he saw his son he set out the table for a feast. But the son must return to the nearness position. To the table where the feast is waiting. Only then can you delight yourself in the Lord. And when the accusers come, aka, your brother, you stay nearby. Because your father will defend you. I have seen this firsthand over the last three years. You don’t have to defend yourself. It is a place of comfort and peace. It is a place where your own nakedness is covered.

Cooperation is the next level of your benediction. It shows that you are not alone. The closer you come the easier it becomes to work together. And as you work together, you are healed of all the fears and blind spots in your life. It is a place of blessings.

Is that not what Gerda has taught us the last couple of weeks?

Therefore, I want to encourage you to come near. To feast at the table that was prepared for you, by your spiritual father. To humble yourself and become part of the us-company. To stand in the covenant that you entered the day you connected with your spiritual father. And if you have a grievance, speak to your spiritual father. The person who was appointed to you. Don’t allow your countenance to become sour or bitter. Apply more honey to your diet. Allow God’s light to remove every dark spot so that you can be formed as a Son.

I want to end with Ps 91: 1 “He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.”

Who represents that shadow? Your spiritual father. May that nearness position propel you into the next level. A deeper level where you learn how to swim in clear water instead of splashing around in mud.

Grace and peace to you.

Living a Separate Life unto God in the Apostolic Prophetic Season

By Lynelle Clark – From Desolation to Abundance

In this Apostolic Prophetic season, the Spirit of the Lord is calling His people to live a life of separation—not isolation, but consecration. A holy dedicated life to God, the Finisher of our faith. It is a divine invitation to align fully with the heart, mind, and will of God, walking in step with His purposes on the earth. This is not merely a lifestyle choice; it is a spiritual mandate for those who desire to be vessels of His glory in these last days. A spiritual mandate that must be activated into practical righteousness in our daily life.

What Does It Mean to Live a “Separate Life unto God”?

To live a separate life unto God means to live distinctly, wholly devoted, and intentionally set apart for His use. It echoes the call of Romans 12:1–2:

“I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind…”

But I have said to you, “You shall inherit their land, and I will give it to you to possess, a land flowing with milk and honey.” I am the LORD your God, who has separated you from the peoples. Leviticus 20:24

“Then the children of Israel who had returned from the captivity ate together with all who had separated themselves from the filth of the nations of the land in order to seek the LORD God of Israel.” Ezra 6:21

Paul, a bondservant of Jesus Christ, called to be an apostle, separated to the gospel of God Romans 1:1

This separation is not about self-righteousness or superiority—it’s about availability. God is looking for those who will step out of the crowd and into the cloud of His presence. In this season, He is raising up a remnant that is willing to walk away from comfort, compromise, and carnality to carry the mantle of His purpose.

Characteristics of a Life Set Apart in This Season

1. Intimacy Over Activity

“He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.”  Psalm 91:1

Many are busy doing things for God, but few are abiding with Him. In this season, intimacy is the foundation. The Lord is looking for lovers before labourers—those who seek His face before they seek His hand.

2. Prophetic Sensitivity

“Surely the Lord God does nothing, unless He reveals His secret to His servants the prophets.” Amos 3:7

Living separately means tuning out the noise of the world to discern the whisper of the Spirit. God is speaking with clarity and urgency. A separated life positions you to hear and declare what He is saying, acting not on impulse, but by revelation.

3. Apostolic Alignment

“God has appointed these in the church: first apostles, second prophets, third teachers…” 1 Corinthians 12:28

This season calls for order and structure—apostolic alignment with God’s blueprint. A separated life submits to Kingdom governance, honours divine authority, and walks in the disciplines necessary for Kingdom advancement.

4. Holiness as a Lifestyle

“But as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct.” 1 Peter 1:15

“For before certain men came from James, he would eat with the Gentiles; but when they came, he withdrew and separated himself, fearing those who were of the circumcision.” Galatians 2:12

Separation includes a return to holiness. Not legalism, but a sincere reverence for God. It’s the daily choice to say no to sin and yes to the Spirit. Holiness is not outdated; it is the hallmark of those who will walk in power.

5. Kingdom Purpose Over Personal Ambition

“But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.” Matthew 6:33

15 But when it pleased God, who separated me from my mother’s womb and called me through His grace, 16 to reveal His Son in me, that I might preach Him among the Gentiles, I did not immediately confer with flesh and blood, 17 nor did I go up to Jerusalem to those who were apostles before me; but I went to Arabia, and returned again to Damascus. Galatians 1:15-17

To live a separated life is to trade our own agenda for God’s. It means embracing Kingdom assignments—even when they are inconvenient, uncomfortable, or costly. In this season, God is deploying those who are willing to say, “Here I am, send me.” (Isaiah 6:8)

Why Now?

We are in a divine kairos moment. The Apostolic Prophetic season is marked by accelerated change, spiritual warfare, and unprecedented opportunity for impact. God is shaking the foundations of systems—both in the Church and in the world—to reveal what is truly of Him.

In times like these, lukewarm living is no longer sufficient. The Spirit is separating the wheat from the chaff, the committed from the casual. A separated life is a surrendered life—one that God can trust to carry His Word, His authority, and His glory.

Final Thoughts

Living a separate life unto God in this season is not about perfection; it’s about pursuit. It’s the daily yielding of our hearts, the quiet yes in the secret place, and the bold obedience in public spaces.

“19 Now, therefore, you are no longer strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God, 20 having been built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ Himself being the chief cornerstone, 21 in whom the whole building, being fitted together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord, 22 in whom you also are being built together for a dwelling place of God in the Spirit.” Ephesians 2:19-22

Now more than ever, God is calling His people to rise—not just in gifting or platform, but in consecration. If you feel the tug of the Holy Spirit drawing you into deeper surrender, don’t resist it. Lean in. You are being set apart for something greater.

“Therefore, come out from among them and be separate, says the Lord. Do not touch what is unclean, and I will receive you.” 2 Corinthians 6:17.

Pursuing purpose, passion, and prophetic alignment—

one life, one assignment at a time.

Lifelong Learning is a good foundation to build upon.

The foundation of all true learning begins with God. Proverbs 2:6 declares, “For the Lord gives wisdom; from His mouth come knowledge and understanding.” We recognize that wisdom is not merely intellectual but spiritual and should be applied practically. Jesus Himself, in Luke 2:52, grew in wisdom, emphasizing the importance of both divine revelation and practical learning. Seeking wisdom requires humility, prayer, and a willingness to apply biblical truths to our daily lives.

We are called to continual growth, both spiritually and intellectually. Daniel exemplified this by excelling in Babylonian education without compromising his commitment to God. True learning, as seen in Daniel 1:4, requires discipline, a teachable spirit, and a commitment to excellence. As we study God’s Word, deepening our understanding of truth, and engage in knowledge, it should equip us to serve the Kingdom effectively.

Paul instructs us in 1 Thessalonians 5:21 to “Test all things; hold fast what is good.” Learning involves discerning what aligns with God’s truth. Testing our faith, spiritual disciplines, and personal habits refines our walk with God. We do this through examining and judging ourselves just as Daniel tested his diet (Daniel 1:11-16) and saw God’s favour. We must be willing to step out in faith, proving God’s principles in our lives.

Excellence is a biblical principle. Daniel and his friends were found ten times wiser than others in the kingdom (Daniel 1:20). We are called to represent Christ in every area of life, whether in ministry, education, or work. Our pursuit of excellence is not for self-glory but to reflect the Kingdom of God. This means living with integrity, diligence, and a commitment to high spiritual and moral standards.

Inspired by Daniel’s life, a biblical framework for lifelong learning includes:

  1. Boundaries—Guarding our faith and convictions (Daniel 1:8).
  1. Suitability—Developing God-given skills with discipline (Colossians 3:23).
  1. Hypothesis—Testing our faith and learning through experience (James 1:22).
  1. The Apex—Striving for God-centred goals, following Christ’s example.
  1. Wisdom—The highest pursuit, applying knowledge for God’s glory (Proverbs 4:7).
Seeking God’s Wisdom
James 1:5 tells us that if we lack wisdom, we should ask God, who gives generously. We should commit to lifelong learning, not just for personal growth but for Kingdom impact. Let us study His Word, seek the leading of the Holy Spirit in all things and pray to prove ourselves worthy.

May you never be to old or to young to start.

Grace and peace to you.

PART SIX: THE MARKS OF A SHEPHERD.

Stock photo Microsoft

Over the last few parts of this bible study, we discovered that we must count the cost before we build. Our foundation must be built on a firm foundation for it to hold during the tough seasons. If your foundation is not firm, you will not make it. This is not a statement of negativity, but an accurate statement. Here, your faith will be tested. Every test the blacksmith will throw at you is designed to purify you and bring you closer to Christ.

Let’s look at this scripture in Corinthians.

1 Corinthians 3:10-23

10Because of God’s grace to me, I have laid the foundation like an expert builder. Now others are building on it. But whoever is building on this foundation must be very careful. 11For no one can lay any foundation other than the one we already have—Jesus Christ.

12Anyone who builds on that foundation may use a variety of materials—gold, silver, jewels, wood, hay, or straw. 13But on the judgment day, fire will reveal what kind of work each builder has done. The fire will show if a person’s work has any value. 14If the work survives, that builder will receive a reward. 15But if the work is burned up, the builder will suffer great loss. The builder will be saved, but like someone barely escaping through a wall of flames.

16Don’t you realize that all of you together are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God lives in you? 17God will destroy anyone who destroys this temple. For God’s temple is holy, and you are that temple.

18Stop deceiving yourselves. If you think you are wise by this world’s standards, you need to become a fool to be truly wise. 19For the wisdom of this world is foolishness to God. As the Scriptures say, “He traps the wise in the snare of their own cleverness.”

20And again, “The Lord knows the thoughts of the wise; he knows they are worthless.”

21So don’t boast about following a particular human leader. For everything belongs to you — 22whether Paul or Apollos or Peter, or the world, or life and death, or the present and the future. Everything belongs to you, 23and you belong to Christ, and Christ belongs to God.

This journey is not a straightforward journey, many would like you to believe. Everything would not be perfect. There is no moonshine and roses on this road, but there is a reward at the end. If Jesus had to walk this road through the Sheep Gate to lay down His will, then you will too.

a. You must make sure that your datum point is level with Christ.

b. You must trust in the very true reference: Christ. There must be no doubt in your mind of Christ’s authenticity.

· You cannot allow any mixtures in your life.

· You must love the Lord with all your heart and mind and soul.

· You must love the Word with all your mind.

· You cannot believe in any false doctrine.

· You must be an exact representation of Christ.

· You must follow His voice through a set man. God always speaks through a man.

c. Christ is the plumb line. The perfect line that cannot be altered.

d. The Sheep Gate leads to the cross.

Jesus is the Shepherd. The gate we have to pass through to be with the Father. Christ is our destination. Not heaven.

What are the marks of the Shepherd?

· SACRIFICES

John 10:11-12

11 I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd gives His life for the sheep. 12 But a hireling, he who is not the shepherd, one who does not own the sheep, sees the wolf coming and leaves the sheep and flees; and the wolf catches the sheep and scatters them. (NKJV)

Romans 3:25

God presented Christ as a sacrifice of atonement, through the shedding of his blood—to be received by faith. He did this to demonstrate his righteousness, because in his forbearance he had left the sins committed beforehand unpunished—

Ephesians 5:2

And walk in the way of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.

Jesus is the true reference, and as he has shown us the Way, we too must follow that same way. We must sacrifice everything that is dear to us.

You might say that this is too hard, but the alternative is so much harder. I don’t say this lightly. I say this because I understand. If you don’t lay it down, your sins will be exposed.

· We must sacrifice the idols, and our way of life.

· We must sacrifice our own dreams and will.

· It is a road of self-denial, and not of self-actualization.

· Walk in perfect faith and righteousness.

Jesus did this without ever questioning the Father’s will. He operated in a high frequency of humility, devotion, and obedience.

· HEALS

Psalms 23:3

He restores my soul; he leads me in the paths of righteousness for His name’s sake. (NKJ)

Ezekiel 34:2-5

2 “Son of man, prophesy against the shepherds of Israel, prophesy and say to them, ‘Thus says the Lord GOD to the shepherds: “Woe to the shepherds of Israel who feed themselves! Should not the shepherds feed the flocks? 3“You eat the fat and clothe yourselves with the wool; you slaughter the fatlings, but you do not feed the flock. 4 “The weak you have not strengthened, nor have you healed those who were sick, nor bound up the broken, nor brought back what was driven away, nor sought what was lost; but with force and cruelty you have ruled them. 5 “So they were scattered because there was no shepherd; and they became food for all the beasts of the field when they were scattered. (NKJ)

A shepherd takes care of the welfare of the sheep. He restores our souls and leads us on a path of righteousness. He finds us when we are lost. He makes sure we know his voice. He gives us the tools to overcome our enemies and leads us to the still waters of rest.

The shepherd is not mindful of his own needs, but mindful of ours. He makes sure you get the right amount of nutrients and water so that you can receive healing.

If you are a leader of a local church, then you must lead the sheep God has entrusted to you. Your voice must be pure so that they can hear God through you. And you must be connected to a spiritual father, just as Jesus was connected to His father.

· EQUIPS

(THIS INCLUDES TEACHING AND DEVELOPMENT)

John 21:15-17

15 So when they had eaten breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter, “Simon, son of Jonah, do you love Me more than these?” He said to Him, “Yes, Lord; You know that I love You.” He said to him, “Feed My lambs.” 16 He said to him again a second time, “Simon, son of Jonah, do you love Me?” He said to Him, “Yes, Lord; You know that I love You.” He said to him, “Tend My sheep.” 17 He said to him the third time, “Simon, son of Jonah, do you love Me?” Peter was grieved because He said to him the third time, “Do you love Me?” And he said to Him, “Lord, You know all things; You know that I love You.” Jesus said to him, “Feed My sheep”. (NKJV)

1 Peter 5:2-4

2Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking the oversight thereof, not by constraint, but willingly; not for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind; 3Neither as being lords over God’s heritage, but being ensamples to the flock. 4And when the chief Shepherd shall appear, ye shall receive a crown of glory that fadeth not away. (KJV)

Psalms 23:1-5

The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.

2 He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters.

3 He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness For His name’s sake.

4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; For You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.

5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You anoint my head with oil; My cup runs over. (NKJV)

Isaiah 40:11

He will feed His flock like a shepherd; He will gather the lambs with His arm,

And carry them in His bosom, And gently lead those who are with young. (NKJV)

Ephesians 4:11-13

11 And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, 12 for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ, 13 till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ; (NKJ)

When you connect with a spiritual father, he will feed you the Word. Acts 2:42 must become a culture in your life. This will help your own growth, protect you and give you the resources to stay authentic.

Acts 2:42

They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.

Doctrine, fellowship, breaking of bread and prayers are the pillars that will be built on the foundation.

There are huge debates on what is more important. Some say prayers, some say fellowship and many neglect the Table of the Lord. But doctrine is the most important, that is why it is mentioned first. Doctrine brings you into right standing with God. It gives you the words to pray, the words to speak when you are at the table. If you don’t have the Word in you, you will not know what to say or pray.

Your set man/spiritual father gives you the resources. These resources feed you, equip you and teach you how to live. If your spiritual father doesn’t feed you, he is not a father, but an uncle.

· PROTECTS

Psalms 23:4

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for You are with me; your rod and Your staff, they comfort me. (NKJ)

John 10:12-14

12 “But a hireling, he who is not the shepherd, one who does not own the sheep, sees the wolf coming and leaves the sheep and flees; and the wolf catches the sheep and scatters them. 13 “The hireling flees because he is a hireling and does not care about the sheep. 14 “I am the good shepherd; and I know My sheep and am known by My own. (NKJ)

1 Samuel 17:34-35

34 But David said to Saul, “Your servant used to keep his father’s sheep, and when a lion or a bear came and took a lamb out of the flock, 35 I went out after it and struck it, and delivered the lamb from its mouth; and when it arose against me, I caught it by its beard, and struck and killed it. (NKJ)

Read Ezekiel 34:4-16 as well as part of your study.

· HONOURS AND RESPECT

False shepherds abuse the sheep.

Ezekiel 34:4, 10-19

4 “The weak you have not strengthened, nor have you healed those who were sick, nor bound up the broken, nor brought back what was driven away, nor sought what was lost; but with force and cruelty you have ruled them.

Micah 3:1-4

1 And I said: “Hear now, O heads of Jacob, and you rulers of the house of Israel: is it not for you to know justice? 2 You who hate good and love evil; who strip the skin from My people, and the flesh from their bones; 3 Who also eat the flesh of My people, Flay their skin from them, break their bones, and chop them in pieces like meat for the pot, like flesh in the caldron.” 4 Then they will cry to the LORD, but He will not hear them; he will even hide His face from them at that time, because they have been evil in their deeds. (NKJ)

· ESTABLISHES THE FLOCK

2 Thessalonicenses 3:3

But the Lord is faithful, who will establish you and guard you from the evil one. (NKJV)

2 Peter 1:12

For this reason I will not be negligent to remind you always of these things, though you know and are established in the present truth

1 Thessalonicenses 3:2

and sent Timothy, our brother and minister of God, and our fellow laborer in the gospel of Christ, to establish you and encourage you concerning your faith,

· RECONCILES

Jeremiah 31:10

“Hear the word of the LORD, O nations, and declare it in the isles afar off, and say, ‘He who scattered Israel will gather him, and keep him as a shepherd does his flock.’ (NKJ)

Ezekiel 34:5

“So they were scattered because there was no shepherd; and they became food for all the beasts of the field when they were scattered. (NKJ)

Ezekiel 34:12

“As a shepherd seeks out his flock on the day he is among his scattered sheep, so will I seek out My sheep and deliver them from all the places where they were scattered on a cloudy and dark day. (NKJ)

Zechariah 13:7

“Awake, O sword, against My Shepherd, against the Man who is My Companion,” says the LORD of hosts. “Strike the Shepherd, and the sheep will be scattered; then I will turn My hand against the little ones. (NKJ)

Matthew 26:31

Then Jesus said to them, “All of you will be made to stumble because of Me this night, for it is written: ‘I will strike the Shepherd, and the sheep of the flock will be scattered.’ (NKJ)

Jeremiah 23:1-4

1 “Woe to the shepherds who destroy and scatter the sheep of My pasture!” says the LORD. 2 Therefore thus says the LORD God of Israel against the shepherds who feed My people: “You have scattered My flock, driven them away, and not attended to them. Behold, I will attend to you for the evil of your doings,” says the LORD. 3 “But I will gather the remnant of My flock out of all countries where I have driven them, and bring them back to their folds; and they shall be fruitful and increase. 4 “I will set up shepherds over them who will feed them; and they shall fear no more, nor be dismayed, nor shall they be lacking,” says the LORD. (NKJ)

John 10:16

“And other sheep I have which are not of this fold; them also I must bring, and they will hear My voice; and there will be one flock and one shepherd. (NKJ)

· DIRECTS

Psalms 23:1-2.

The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. 2 He makes me to lie down in green pastures;

He leads me beside the still waters.

Numbers 27:16-17

16 “Let the LORD, the God of the spirits of all flesh, set a man over the congregation,

17 “who may go out before them and go in before them, who may lead them out and bring them in, that the congregation of the LORD may not be like sheep which have no shepherd.” (NKJ)

Jesus fulfilled all the requirements of being a shepherd and was found spotless and blameless as a sacrifice. He emphasized that God is the plumb line, and He made the way for us to follow.

As you study these scriptures, ask the Lord where you have missed it as well. As a follower of Christ, you must follow his voice to overcome and to rule. The plumb line is a true line that leads you to Christ. If it doesn’t lead you to Christ, it’s false.

Count the cost and work out your own salvation.

Till we speak again.

Grace and peace to you.
